I have been completely delinquent in posting pictures of Baby Riley’s nursery. So after being hounded by nearly everyone we know, here is the unveiling.
Brian and I spent countless weekends researching sturdy, yet stylish furniture for the little one and finally settled on this crib & dresser set. The wonderful thing about the crib is that it converts to a toddler bed and eventually to a double-bed. A huge THANK YOU to Grandma & Grandpa Krautmann for the crib!!! My girlfriend Erin (Gilligan’s adopted Auntie E) was the designer & laborer behind the actually nursery, so I cannot take credit for how cute everything turned out. She was such a trooper & wonderful friend – driving all over town with me to different boutiques to design the bedding (green, cream & chocolate stripes & polka-dots) as well as multiple trips to the house to paint the stripes around room.
Now Brian is always extremely handy, but the one thing that he HATES to do is paint. He claims that he isn't very good at it (which I think is just an excuse!), but he got his hands a little dirty painting the base coat for the walls. It turned out perfectly and since he did such a nice job, I've got a few other projects picked out for him around the house:) He then got into something a little more up his alley - demolishing part of the closet and installing this cool organizer for all the little things that baby needs.
While we are waiting to decorate the walls of the nursery until we know if Gilligan is a boy or girl, I have picked up a few gender neutral things to add a little style to the room. My girlfriend Annie was in town visiting a few weeks ago to visit (and help me start the "nesting" process), when we happened upon a cute little boutique in Old Town. Here we found this adorable frog growth chart and a little sign that says "A hug a day keeps the Monsters away".
