This first week has been amazing to say the least. While I haven't had more than 2.5 hours of sleep at a time, Nolan has been a great little guy. He's eating well and sleeping a ton, which gives me plenty of opportunity to nap. We even had a doctors appointment on Wednesday and our little man is gaining weight - nearly 9 lbs now!
I'd also be a horrible wife if I didn't brag on Brian a little bit. I've always know him to be a caring, thoughtful "gentle soul", and yet he continues to amaze me. He's been an awesome husband and Dad, giving me a hand with all the household chores after working all day long. He is still in awe of Nolan and can't get enough of him, even if that means taking him when he's crying and fussy...a huge help for me!
We obviously experienced a great deal of new things this week, so here is a highlight list of "firsts" from our first week home:
1.) We got our first smile from the little man. This warmed our hearts and made me cry a couple tears of joy. I'm pretty sure it was just gas that was making him smile, but either way, it made my day!
2.) Brian was the first one to get peed on by Nolan (this was super-funny to witness!)
3.) Karma took hold after I laughed at Brian for getting peed on...because I was the first one to get pooped on. Yes, there is a danger of projectile pooh and I can't believe no one warned me of this!
4.) Our first trip outside of the doctor's office - COSTCO! Needless to say, Nolan is a true Riley.
5.) I put on my first non-maternity outfit in quite some time. It was definitely snugger than before Nolan, but I felt a small sense of accomplishment.
6.) Nolan's first trip to visit his best buddies - The Prices & The D's. Our boys will grow up with one another, just like our husbands did:)
7.) We went on our first walk as a family. Thankfully Sullivan heeled very well and we made it around the block without any major incidents.
8.) Nolan attended his first (of many) So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) viewing parties. His uncle Matty Q. would be so proud of him!

Nolan is so very blessed to have you both as parents! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!
So precious! It really is an amazing thing to watch your husband become a father. There is so much that you learn about them (and yourself of course) through this experience. Kuddos to Brian for being such a helper!
And a big hats off to you for already breaking out the non-maternity clothes! Such a HUGE accomplishment!!!
We can't wait to see you guys again soon!!!
PS - Did I never tell you about the poop thing??? Sooo sorry about that!!! I'll tell you our story sometime if you like - it made me laugh so hard I cried when it happened...
