Nolan's First (of many) Trips to the Cabin

Brian's parents have a cabin in Oak Creek Canyon that is one of our favorite places to visit. In fact, unlike most Phoenicians, we almost look forward to the blistering heat that summers in Phoenix bring because it gives us a great excuse to head up North. Well, this weekend was Nolan's first trip out of town...a great chance for him (and us) to get some fresh air. The weather was extremely pleasant and we even had a nice thunderstorm roll through on Saturday afternoon (a nice excuse to head inside for a quick cat nap!). The best part was that Nolan got to spend the entire weekend with his Nana, Pop-pop and Tia E. They were a HUGE help to Brian and me and we came back to Phoenix on Sunday fully rested & recharged (thank you guys!).

Nolan got to sit on the front porch overlooking Oak Creek, and snuggle up to read a book with Nana. He got to spend some great time cuddling up to his Tia E and take a couple of naps with her.
Here's Nolan giving Nana a HUGE smile as she sung the ABC's to him. He absolutely adores Momma K, so we were very happy to capture this on film!
And of course, he spent some great time with Pop-pop...they even managed to take a nap together on the kitchen bed (the most coveted napping spot at the cabin).
The cabin is also Sullivan's favorite place to visit. We got up early on Friday morning to start packing the car and when Sullivan saw us take out his blue Oak Creek bag, he was stuck to our sides like glue...he even skipped his breakfast to follow us around the house so that he could make sure we wouldn't leave without him. He loves (in fact it's more of an obsession with him) swimming in the creek and fetching sticks from the water. Wheatens aren't supposed to be water dogs, but he likes being different:)
